The Dances of Universal Peace draw on sacred phrases, scriptures, and poetry of teachers from numerous spiritual traditions. The Dances and walking meditations blend chant, live music, and movement to allow the experience of unity, peace, and integration. Our group honors all spiritual paths, and we are a chapter in our larger parent organization - The Dances of Universal Peace International (DUP). We aspire to bring peace to the world one heart at a time, in our homes and communities and eventually the entire world. Begun in the late sixties by a man named Samuel Lewis who was a Sufi teacher and a Zen Roshi, these Dances have now spread all over the world. Come and see why. The Dances are a moving meditation and a wonderful way to feel inner peace at the end of a long week. 

The Eugene Sufi Council is a separate entity from its sister organization, Eugene Dances of Universal Peace.  Each has its own leadership and governance.  Friendly collaboration is an important aspect of the relationship between these two groups which have overlapping membership, but different guidelines.
