The Universal Worship represents an ideal put forth by Hazrat Inayat Khan to bring all of the world’s religions together in order to promote tolerance, understanding and spiritual awakening for humanity. Each service/celebration has a theme and a unique flavor and form. On the physical level the different religions are represented and celebrated in their outer forms (their holy scriptures, songs, sacred sounds, prayers, music, poetry, movement etc). The masters, saints and prophets of each religion flow through those forms and through them all flows the One, the Mystery, the Spirit of Guidance. Sometimes parts of the service are interwoven with Zikr (Sufi remembrance practices), healing practices, other activities or discussions.
“The blessing which we receive in this service is the blessing of all of the great teachers and prophets and illuminated souls, all on one.” Hazrat Inayat Khan.
